United Grind founder HiJinks launched his solo journey in 2013, appearing on projects alongside Rapper Big Pooh (Little Brother), Reks, Buff 1, and others. While originally focused on the promotional and media side of United Grind, his partner and collaborator Vice Souletric urgedhim to step from behind the scenes pushing him further into the booth. That move led to his first official single “M.A.M.N.”, trading bars with an up and coming Benny The Butcher—a debut that immediately stamped his lyrical credibility. In the last few years leading up to the release of his debut album “Illficionado”, HiJinks has found himself trading bars with the likes of Skyzoo, Che Noir, Slum Village and The Musalini to name a few.
During the pandemic, HiJinks began crafting his debut solo project Illficionado, showcasing his versatility as one of the rare emcees equally sharp across street anthems, club records, vibed-out joints, and introspective cuts. All while building his catalog, HiJinks has remained a driving force behind United Grind—spearheading releases for the roster and organizing live events over the last five years.
